Boys Varsity Cross Country

     Coach Whitson enters his second year as the Eagles Assistant Cross Country Coach.  He is a 2008 graduate of Sherando High School, Stephens City, Va and 2012 graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College, Virginia Beach, VA. Coach Whitson has high school running experience at the district, regional, and state levels and conference, regional, and national experience in the college ranks. He has many accolades as a runner, however most notable was winning the 2011 NCAA South/South East Division III Cross Country Championship. Following college Coach Whitson became a substitute teacher for Frederick County public schools from 2012-2014, Assistant Cross Country Coach at Sherando High School for the 2012 season, and completed the necessary requirements to become a volunteer firefighter in 2013.  He currently serves Gainesboro Fire and Rescue Department in Frederick County and works for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  During his free time Coach Whitson enjoys fly fishing on the streams, lakes, and rivers.  He continues to run and enjoys mountain biking.  In the near future Coach Whitson plans to begin competing in triathlons.
